Same Same! – A learning Story with the Marigolds

On our journey back to daycare, the Marigolds played a matching game. This quickly became the same same game! The excitement of finding their match came alive in all of the children. Oliver had the owl card, which was one of the last cards taped to the lightpost closest to daycare. Anticipation filled Olivers’ eyes as he watched his peers find their match before him one light post at a time. “Oliver! Same same!” yelled Rowan as he came up to Olivers’ match. Rowan was filled with more and more excitement as each of his peers found their match. “Hmm, where’s my tweety bird?” Everly said as we continued to walk. As she ran to the next post she looked back at me, locking eyes to make sure I saw her find her match. “Wow, Everly you found your tweety bird!” I replied affirming her excitement. So much happiness and anticipation occurred as each child found their match. With this, we also learned patience as other children got their match before we did! We used teamwork to make sure everyone got to feel the same excitement as we did and find their matches. “Same same!” yelled Rowan in excitement as he finally found his match. I wonder if we’ll be filled with the same amount of excitement every time we play the same same game?
